About Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire uses the visual language of Mahjong tiles, but it is not the four-player table game. The objective is to remove the full arrangement by matching two available tiles at a time.
A tile is available when nothing covers it and at least one of its horizontal sides is open. Each match reveals more of the layered board.
How to play
- Look for two matching tiles that are both free.
- Select the first tile, then select its matching partner.
- Work from exposed edges and upper layers toward the center.
- Clear all 144 tiles to complete the layout.

Is Mahjong Solitaire the same as traditional Mahjong?
No. Mahjong Solitaire is a single-player matching puzzle that uses Mahjong-style tiles. Traditional Mahjong is a multiplayer game with different rules.
Which tiles can be matched?
A tile must have no tile covering it and at least one open side. Match identical standard tiles; flowers match other flowers and seasons match other seasons.
Can I play Mahjong on mobile?
Yes. The game board and controls are designed to fit mobile screens and also work on desktop browsers.
Is the game free?
Yes. Classic Mahjong Solitaire can currently be played free without creating an account.
What happens when no moves are available?
The game offers a smart shuffle that redistributes the remaining tile faces without changing the board geometry.
