How to Play Klondike Solitaire

Move all 52 cards to the four foundations, building each suit from Ace to King. Seven tableau columns start with one to seven cards; only the last card in each column is face up. Moving an exposed card automatically turns over the hidden card underneath.

Build tableau sequences downward in alternating colors: a red 7 goes on a black 8. Drag a card or a complete legal face-up sequence. Only a King or a sequence beginning with a King can fill an empty column. Foundation cards can move back to the tableau when useful.

Click a card for a safe foundation move or an unambiguous tableau move. You can also select a card and choose a highlighted destination. Double-click to try its foundation. Undo reverses a whole action, including any newly revealed card.

Draw 1 and Draw 3

Draw 1 turns over one stock card at a time. Draw 3 turns over up to three; only the top waste card can move. Removing it exposes the next available card. Both modes allow unlimited stock recycling without reshuffling. Switching modes starts a new deal after confirmation.

Tips for Your Next Move

Favor moves that uncover hidden cards, and keep space for Kings. Moving every available card to a foundation immediately can remove a useful tableau building card. Hint suggests a legal option, rather than guaranteeing a solution. Restart restores the same shuffled deal; New Game creates a fresh shuffle.

Your game saves locally when browser storage is available. A refresh restores your cards, mode, time and undo history. Automatic collection begins only when the game has verified a complete sequence of legal foundation moves.

Frequently asked questions

Is every Klondike deal solvable?

No. Random deals are not guaranteed to be solvable. Hints show legal options and do not prove whether a deal can be won.

Can I recycle the stock?

Yes, in both Draw 1 and Draw 3 you can recycle it unlimited times. Recycling preserves the remaining card order and never reshuffles.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Tap cards or drag legal sequences with touch. Swipe outside the cards to scroll the page.

What is the difference between Restart and New Game?

Restart returns to the same initial shuffle. New Game deals a newly shuffled deck. Both ask before replacing your progress.
